Swimming, set within a wetland.

Building new wetland environments in the city with swimming and community. Designed to turn underused water and land in any town or city into a place to swim, gather and heal.

When we care for people and nature equally, both thrive.

Each Blueprint™ restores what matters most: water, nature and belonging. The key system is the wetland, and swimming sits inside it, not the other way round. Every scheme gives back to nature as much as it gives to people, creating a regenerative blue space that improves health and strengthens the local economy.

Why now

Five reasons to build The Blue.

01

An island nation that can't swim.

02

Public pools are disappearing.

03

The evidence for blue health keeps growing.

04

Wetlands are the hardest-working habitat.

05

Cities need to become more climate resilient.

The Blue responds to all five: a wetland that supports climate resilience, whose public health benefit is immersion. A place for everyone, especially the people and communities who usually miss out on easy contact with nature.

At the heart of every Blueprint™.

Five ideas sit behind every site.

01

Wetland first

Every site starts as a floating wetland of modular rafts and bankside planting, bringing birds, insects and fish back to urban water. The swim space is set within it.

02

Clean, separate water

A constructed wetland that cleans its own water, with a natural swimming body at its heart. Swimmers never touch the host water, so the swim stays clear and safe whatever the host water is doing.

03

Community

Co-designed with the people who will use it. A place, not just a pool: changing, showers and space for food, events and community, open to all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

04

Living data

Live monitoring tracks the health of the host water around the clock, and a long-term research programme with the University of Bristol measures the effect of water and wetlands on people's health.

05

Low-carbon warmth

Water warmed by renewable energy or by heat that would otherwise be wasted, from heat networks, energy from waste plants or data centres. Warm water means a year-round experience.

How a Blueprint™ happens

From a stretch of water to a place people love.

1. Find the water

A harbour, lake, river, dock or brownfield site with potential for blue space.

2. Shape the concept

We adapt the modular Blueprint™ to the site's setting, ecology and community.

3. Build the case

Evidence, engagement and partners lined up to support planning and investment.

4. Deliver and operate

We bring together the team that runs the swimming, wellbeing and hospitality.

The Blue: coming to a waterfront near you.

Different sites, one Blueprint™. Together they build the evidence for wetlands and blue health, and a model we can repeat across the UK and beyond. Have a site with water? We'd love to hear from landowners, developers, councils and investors.
