It all started with a simple idea: what if everybody has better access to water and could make your day just a little bit better? Today, we’re proud to turn that vision into reality. Everything we create is built with purpose, passion, and joy.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: water is important for our health and happiness is contagious. When we create something that makes you smile, that joy ripples outward.
A surfer, social entrepreneur, and founder of One Blue World .
One Blue World connects science, design, and real-world projects to put Blue Health at the centre of how we live.
As Chief Visionary Officer, he leads a movement that blends the joy of surfing with the science of Blue Health - the proven link between water, wellbeing and community.
Nick first surfed in Cornwall at 5 years old with his dad, sparking a lifelong connection to the ocean. That connection shaped his career: from training as an osteopath to reimagining how access to water can transform health.
In 2019, The Wave opened in Bristol, offering world-class surfing for all ages and abilities - from Olympic hopefuls to first-timers. Nick’s vision runs deeper than sport. He champions surf therapy, adaptive and para surfing, and programmes that support mental health, resilience, and belonging.
His partnership with The Wave Project helped bring NHS-backed surf therapy to land-locked young people struggling with poor mental health - a UK first. It is part of his wider mission to design sustainable, nature-connected spaces that heal both people and planet.
Nick was also Chairman and Director of Surfing England and part of the UK Sport International Leadership Programme, helping secure Olympic funding for British surfing.
His journey hasn’t been without challenge. In 2020, Nick suffered multiple strokes, which left him unable to speak. He calls it the hardest and most transformative chapter of his life - one that deepened his resilience and sharpened his purpose.
Recognised as one of the UK’s most disruptive entrepreneurs, Nick continues to push boundaries in business, sport and social change.
2025 he became an honorary Doctor of Social Inclusion & Business from Bath Spa University.
Back in 2012, Abby agreed to give Nick ‘a couple of months’ PR support, to spread the word about his madcap dream to bring a slice of the ocean to Bristol… fast forward to today and it’s been a long 2 months!
Although part of the journey since the very beginning, Abby is still a hopeless surfer, who hates being out of her depth and is scared of waves - but she is a dedicated cold water dipper who can be found bobbing around the tidal pools of north Cornwall all year round. She is a massive advocate for cold water immersion and the community to be found around wild swimming, and is passionate about helping people find their own unique connection with water and blue health - whatever their level of water confidence.
A talented and experienced communications consultant, Abby is incredibly motivated by working for purpose-driven organisations making a positive impact - and most importantly telling the stories that matter. She runs The Wave’s proactive outreach Impact Programme, which aims to bring surfing and blue health to more people who need it.
